As an Assistant Accountant, your primary role involves providing essential support to the Accountant in basic bookkeeping, clerical, and accounting tasks for our Benelux organization. Your responsibilities include ensuring accuracy in financial transactions and playing a crucial part in supporting overall financial operations. Your contributions will directly impact the success of our organization.


Main Responsibilities

In the capacity of overseeing financial record maintenance, your responsibilities will include:


Month-End Closing Process:

  • Assisting in the month-end closing process by preparing essential journal entries and reconciling accounts.


Invoice Processing:

  • Recording and reconciling Accounts Payable (A/P) invoices and expense reports, meticulously identifying discrepancies.
  • Collaborating with various departments to process and verify invoices.
  • Ensuring the timely and accurate payment of invoices in strict adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Managing vendor relations.


Expense Reporting:

  • Communicating with employees to resolve any discrepancies in expense reports.
  • Processing employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and guidelines.


Bank Reconciliation:

  • Conducting regular bank reconciliations to verify the accuracy of financial transactions and account balances.
  • Investigating and resolving any discrepancies identified during the bank reconciliation process.


Collaboration:

  • Working closely with the accounting team to facilitate a smooth and efficient closing process.
  • Collaborating with other members of the finance team to streamline processes and enhance overall efficiency.


Continuous Improvement:

  • Identifying opportunities for process improvements and actively contributing to the development of best practices within the finance department.
  • Keeping abreast of relevant financial regulations and accounting principles applicable to our Benelux organization.


Your role in these areas will be integral to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, ensuring compliance, and contributing to the continuous improvement of financial processes within our organization.

Requirements & Profile

The characteristics and experiences, which the ideal candidate should demonstrate, include:

  • A degree in Accounting/Finance or a related field;
  • 3 years working experience in an accounting or finance role, preferably in a Benelux-focused environment;
  • Good communication skills and ability to achieve defined targets under pressure;
  • Can operate in a dynamic environment and keep oversight in complex situations;
  • Flexible with a hands-on approach;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Pro-active and structured attitude;
  • Hands-on experience with MS Excel and accounting software (e.g. Sage);
  • Excellent communication skills in Dutch, and English (French is a plus).
