Job description

We are seeking an experienced API Developer with strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot to design and implement robust, scalable, and secure APIs. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of API development best practices, microservices architecture, and performance optimization. Reporting to the Head of Data, you will be part of a team of Developers and Data Engineers that work closely with our delivery team to create a scalable and performant data accessibility platform.


What are you going to do? 

  • Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs using Spring Boot and tools like Restdocs or Springdoc.

  • Ensure API security, scalability, and high availability.

  • Implement unit and integration tests to ensure API reliability and performance.

  • Optimize API performance and troubleshoot production issues.

  • Maintain detailed technical documentation for API endpoints and usage.

  • Work with containerization and deployment tools for smooth API delivery.

What do you bring? 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an API developer;

  • Strong proficiency in Java and Spring;

  • Experience with asynchronous programming and performance tuning in Java;

  • Knowledge of OAuth2, JWT, and other authentication/authorization standards;

  • Deep understanding of RESTful API principles, HTTP methods, and best practices;

  • Experience working with containerization(Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP);

  • Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB);

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and automated testing;

  • Knowledge of API documentation tools like OpenAPI/Swagger.

 

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience with GraphQL or gRPC;

  • Familiarity with microservices architecture and service orchestration;

  • Familiarity with API platforms, such as KONG;

  • Understanding of event-driven systems using Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar tools;

  • Basic knowledge of DevOps practices and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible).

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking;

  • Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work in technical and cross-functional teams;

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities;

  • Motivated to learn and embrace new technologies;

  • Fluent in English (spoken and written) mandatory.
